Agent 00 soul edwin starr9/13/2023 The biggest hit of Starr's career, which cemented his reputation, was the Vietnam War protest song "War" (1970). His 1970 song "Time" also helped to establish him as a prominent artist on the Northern Soul scene. His early Ric-Tic hit "Stop Her On Sight (S.O.S.)" was reissued in Britain (with "Headline News" as its B-side) in 1968, and it performed better than the original release on the UK Chart, surpassing the original #35 and peaking at #11. Many of Starr's Ric-Tic songs (subsequently owned by Motown) like "Back Street" and "Headline News" became favored Northern Soul classics. It was when Motown's Berry Gordy became frustrated with smaller labels like Ric-Tic stealing some of the success of his company that he bought out the label. It peaked at #6 in both the Hot 100 and R&B Charts in 1969. At Motown he recorded a string of singles before enjoying an international success with "25 Miles", which he co-wrote with producers Johnny Bristol and Harvey Fuqua. While at Ric-Tic, he wrote the song, "Oh, How Happy", a #12 Billboard Hot 100 hit in 1966 for The Shades of Blue (he would go on to release a version of the song with Blinky in 1969) and sang lead for the Holidays on their #12 R&B hit, "I'll Love You Forever". ![]() Other early hits included "Headline News", "Back Street" and "S.O.S. Halo forward unto dawn movie9/13/2023 ![]() Each episode debuts on a Friday, which means all my calls will be held, pizza will be delivered to my couch, and nothing is more important than those 20 minutes of Halo action. Friday has always been my favorite day of the week, but now I have a reason to love it. Superb acting, gorgeous visuals, a beautiful soundtrack, and the promise to deliver more and more in future episodes. And when it debuted on October 5th, I was one of the few to see it when it was only at 5k views(hipster moment). Only this time it wasn't going to be a movie, but a web series instead. Then, Microsoft and 343 Industries teamed up to create Forward Unto Dawn, and the hype surrounding a Halo movie returned. Since high school, I've followed the hype surrounding the script writing and screenplay mock-ups of a potential Halo film, but they never panned out into anything real. I've been a fan of the Halo series since day one of Halo C.E., and it's been really disappointing to not have a Halo movie I can feel proud of. I watched the trailer an easy 5-10 times, and then periodically checked back to view it again, in case I missed something the first time around. In addition, the feature is available for rent or purchase on few months ago when the first trailer came out for the web series, "Forward Unto Dawn", I was beside myself with excitement. Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is available on. Where you can stream Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Other options for fans of the genre ready to stream now include The Adam Project, Space Sweepers, The Midnight Sky and Stowaway. However, Netflix does have a stellar library of sci-fi-related material that subscribers should absolutely have on their radar. Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is not an option on Netflix, and there doesn’t seem to be any plans in the works for that to change any time soon. Unfortunately, many exceptional titles are not always ready to view on the streamer at all times, even though the platform does a rather impressive job keeping its library full of incredible choices. Is Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn available on Netflix? All of the classified intel has been laid out for fans to see if subscribers can enjoy Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn on Netflix. The Visual Effects Society Awards and 65th Primetime Emmy Awards nominee is not only an ideal experience for fans of Halo but is without a doubt an exceptional thrill ride for fans of the sci-fi genre. The Streamy Award-winning adventure is set within the Halo universe that follows UNSC Cadet Thomas Lanskey in his valiant efforts to help John-117, aka Master Chief, take down a large faction of the allied alien forces called The Covenant. This impressive ordeal was a marketing effort for the game Halo 4 to get fans reunited with the franchise after Halo 3 and the saga from the first trilogy was wrapped up. For those looking for even more action from Master Chief, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn is a worthwhile endeavor and an outstanding feature that looks absolutely fantastic. The best-selling video game franchise has a new entry with Halo Infinite and a brand new live-action series on Paramount+. It couldn’t be a better time to be a fan of Halo. Can subscribers enjoy Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn on Netflix? Keep reading to find out!

Puns about crosswords9/13/2023 where "remarkable" serves to tell us to think of someone remarking on - or saying the word - "liar" to give us JAMBALAYA. So that's a soundalike of a term which is in itself onomatopoeic, "wah-wah", to lead to an unflattering description of a CHIHUAHUA.Ĥac Creole food post taken by a remarkable pork-pie producer? (9) Next, from Petitjean:ġ0ac Clapton initially greeting sound of guitar effect as insignificant nuisance on the end of a lead (9) "Harangue" is the indicator of a soundalike - not a frequent sighting, but it does fit the "say it or hear it" category. It's only after taking the last letters of "Spectator" and "magazine" that we look for the soundalike of Boris Becker's surname to get the du Maurier story REBECCA. But sometimes it's just one part.ģd Novel features latterly in Spectator magazine Boris harangued (7) In the clues above, the soundalike does all the business of the wordplay. "On the radio", by the way, is one to keep a special eye - or ear - open for. Via "rays", "sight" and "broach", we have RAISE, SITE and BROOCH. Still, the general point stands.Īnd three more hearings, from the Everyman:Ģ5ac Building area? Eyesore, from what one hears (4)ġ9d On the radio, start to speak about a decorative pin (6) It turns out that the Miss Leeds pageant is alive and well in 2011 and held at the Halo Nightclub. there is, in this day and age, no such competition as "Miss Leeds", but it's a fair way of getting you to MISLEADS. Likewise, despite what Orlando may claim in cluing.ġ9d Yorkshire beauty queen, we hear, pulls the wool over one's eyes (8) And there's a thing: no dictionary I own has an entry for he-whore, a reminder that the soundalike may not be a word in itself, rather a series of sounds that get you to the answer. ![]() One more animal for now, from Puck:Ģ4ac Heard male prostitute talk out of his ass? (6)Īn ass of course makes a HEE-HAW, which - at least according to Puck - sounds like "he-whore". where "paltry", a word for "mean", just about sounds like POULTRY - "just about" perhaps accounted for by the question mark at the end of the clue. So we take a word for "no" - "nay" - and find an equine soundalike as the solution: NEIGH. Here's one in the FT from Cincinnus, known locally as Orlando: Let's see some more soundalike clues, with the tell-tale indicator highlighted in coloured italics next to the word we have to find a homophone for. The clues above give you a chance to think "hey! it's a homophone!" by suggesting either a mouth making sounds or an ear hearing them. the name of the man whose tomb has just been shielded from over-kissing: Oscar "Wilde", leading excitingly to the solution WILD. "Coax", when mentioned, is a soundalike for some COKES.Īnd a Sunday Telegraph clue that involves a name. To pet, when it's not a cute old American term for advancing to first base, is to coax. To your ear, it's the same as the answer, a musical work: the SUITE. The wordplay here is "melodious to the ear", and Chifonie wants you to think about how your ear receives a word meaning melodious, namely "sweet". Let's roll.ġ2ac Musical work that's melodious to the ear (5) ![]() And remember: part of the clue is a definition, the other part is wordplay. That is, they'll be easier than they might seem. In the examples that follow, beginners should bear in mind that if they met them in an authentic puzzling context, they will probably be reaping the benefit of working from letters entered from other answers. With a soundalike, the setter suggests words to you, you say them aloud in your head - or out loud, if you don't mind looking odd - and you hear the answer. It's often a moment of comic relief - though, as we'll see below, not everyone agrees. With soundalikes, it's about the listening rather than the seeing. Put another way: most solving involves working out a bunch of letters and arranging them to see the answer. ![]() Anagrams are coming up, but the soundalike more often provides what this blog is all about: fun.

Watch movie witness 19859/13/2023 ![]() ![]() What this means is that the focus of the movie is on John hiding out in the Amish community and his growing feelings towards Rachel. What I will say is that the ending to this is terrific with a touch of western about it but with a nice twist to not make just a cliche. By me telling you this isn't a spoiler because not only is this not the focus of the movie but it is also pretty obvious that at some point the dirty cops will find them. So as already mentioned "Witness" is book-ended by tradition cop thriller ideas, so we have the young boy who saw a murder, the need to go into hiding and then the inevitable resolution as John has to deal with the corrupt cops who track him, Rachel and Samuel down. But whilst there not only does John fall for Rachel who also falls for him but he also finds himself falling in love with the uncomplicated Amish lifestyle. When Samuel identifies the killer as a narcotics cop things get messy with John forced to take Rachel and Samuel back to the Amish community and hide out. Whilst waiting for their train in the city young Amish boy Samuel Lap (Lukas Haas) witnesses a murder in the toilets and he and his mother Rachel ( Kelly McGillis - At First Sight) must help detective John Book ( Harrison Ford - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom) in his inquiries. And it makes "Witness" a terrific movie, beautiful in look with wonderful performances from Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis which draws you into the romance. I say misleading because whilst "Witness" is book-ended by cop action what happens in between is more akin to a holiday romance where a detective hiding out with the Amish not only falls in love with the woman he is protecting but also the uncomplicated life style and finds himself torn. That doesn't sound the most original of ideas in fact I can think of numerous cop, dramas which use a similar storyline but then that is what is sort of misleading about "Witness" because that is the set up which it uses. It was interesting to watch, and I’d recommend it.A young boy is a witness to a murder and when he identifies the murderer as being a narcotics cop the boy, his mother and the detective in charge of the case must go into hiding. Witness combines a number of dramatic, thriller, and romantic elements to make for a well-rounded and engaging movie. The love story between them doesn’t feel forced, and though love stories are common in films, this one is done well enough that it’s not just your run-of-the-mill love story that’s thrown in. As they slowly progressed in their like of one another, you could see Rachel’s inner struggle as she is torn between her upbringing and her desire. The chemistry between Ford and McGillis in this film was interesting to watch. Viggo Mortensen also has a minor part in the film. Danny Glover had a few notable roles prior to this movie. Kelly McGillis has a good balance and demonstrated she could play a strong yet conflicted character. Harrison Ford had been well established by 1985, but this performance really showcased him as a serious actor, and he gives one of his better performances in my opinion. Witness was a launching point for a number of big name actors and actresses. Though Book is doing a good thing in protecting Samuel and Rachel, he unintentionally brings violence and murder into the Amish community. It was also interesting as a case study in the drastically contrasting cultures of the Amish and then ‘English,’ the outside world. None of them necessarily dominated the others. There is a good balance of drama, romance, and action. The dramatic elements weren’t over-the-top, and as such the story flowed naturally. The thriller elements of this film worked well. Witness was interesting to watch for a few reasons. Worlds collide as Detective McFee (Glover), one of the killers, and Book’s superior Schaeffer (Sommer) attempt to kill the only witness and in doing so introduce a world of violence into an otherwise peaceful community. He and his mother, recently widowed Rachel (McGillis), go into hiding in the Amish community with hard-bitten cop John Book (Ford). While waiting at the train station, Samuel Lapp (Haas), a young Amish boy, witnesses the murder of an undercover cop.
